Following recent collaborations with actress Meryl Streep, author Philip Roth, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, this globally renowned group of musicians comes to San Diego for one night only on January 17th. The upcoming performance by Takács Quartet promises to be one of the most popular La Jolla Music Society events all winter. Their program features string quartets from Debussy and Bartók, followed by Beethoven’s final full-scale movement to end the night.
About the Musicians
The Takács Quartet was originally founded in Hungary in 1975. Today, the group is based out of Boulder, Colorado, playing 90 concerts a year on stages around the world. Though all but one of the founding members has been replaced, the same warm spirit and depth of connection pervades every time they take the stage. This synergy is reflected in their many awards, such as the Wigmore Hall Medal, and the 2011 Award for Chamber Music from the Royal Philharmonic Society in London.
