Lace up your skates and head out onto the ice at Horton Plaza’s outdoor rink. This fun winter activity is back for the holidays! The price of admission for Sycuan’s Fantasy on Ice includes ice skate rentals. Adult admission is $14. For kids under the age of 12, it’s $12. If you think you’ll be coming back more than once, consider a season pass, just $40. Special events will take place throughout the season, including a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Family Day is Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and includes kid-friendly activities and entertainment, plus a special admission rate of $10 per person. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed on Christmas Day.
Even though it’s Southern California, the ice chills the air, so be sure to dress warmly. Mittens or gloves are recommended, too, as are an extra pair of socks, especially for those who skate in the daytime, when the ice is wetter. Parking is available in the garage under the ice rink for $5 with validation, and is good for 3 hours. There’s also metered parking free on Sundays, and free after 6 p.m. the rest of the week. Proceeds from ice rink ticket sales benefit Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s Hospital. To find out more about the Horton Square Ice Rink, call (619) 234-1031.
