La Jolla Christmas Parade: A 2014 Holiday Event in Southern California
Girard Ave. to Prospect St.
Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014
1:30 p.m. – Parade
3:30 – 5:30 p.m. – Festival

Get into get into the holiday spirit by attending the 57th Annual La Jolla Christmas Parade, followed by the Holiday Festival. The theme for this year’s event is “Spirit of Christmas – Peace on Earth.” How fitting is that? Arrive early for a good viewing spot along the parade route. Cheer and applaud as talented marching bands, sleek vintage cars, lively equestrians and elaborate floats make their way down the parade route. There’s sure to be some La Jolla VIPs in attendance, too. Things get started on Girard Avenue. The route turns left on Prospect Street, all the way down to Silverado Street, near the Contemporary Museum of Art.

The Holiday Festival will take place at the end of the parade at the La Jolla Recreation Center, 615 Prospect Street. Enjoy all kinds of entertainment, including live music and arts and crafts. It’s rumored that Santa Claus will show up in the Old Black Goose, so kids, make sure your Christmas wish list is ready! At 4:30 p.m., the festive fun continues when the Festival Christmas Tree Lighting takes place.

It’s usually sunny in La Jolla, but remember to bring a hat and jacket, just in case.  We recommend taking public transportation to the event if you’re able to do so, as many streets will be closed to traffic for the parade. An ADA accessible area is available close to the start of the parade, along with restrooms. For more information on the Parade and Festival, visit http://www.ljparade.com/.
