Public Shotgun at Torrey Pines in February

Designed by legendary course architect William P. Bell and later completed by his son, Torrey Pines offers two 18-hole championship courses for golfing enthusiasts. Its scenic South Course offers unparalleled views of the Pacific as well as several more of a huge natural canyon while its North Course includes several holes high atop the rugged bluffs of the California coastline.
This winter, the world-renowned facility will offer a public shotgun for locals and visitors alike on February 2, 8, 9, and 25. Limited to only 100 players, this golf tournament is the perfect chance for those looking to sample a taste of what this signature course has to offer. Free sign-ups are even available for residents, and non-residents can sign up six days in advance with no booking fees. Just call the Torrey Pines Office or sign up in person from dawn until dusk.
For this particular-style tournament, all groups of players tee off simultaneously from different holes around the course. As such, Group 1 would start from hole 1, Group 2 from hole 2, and so on. With a shotgun start, this allows a unified start time for all players, allowing the tournament to wrap up at the same time as each group finishes their full round of 18-hole golf.
Golfing enthusiasts will relish this one-of-a-kind opportunity at Torrey Pines. Afterward, when you're looking to explore what else this course has to offer, make sure to hit up the golf shop. Considered one of the largest shops on the West Coast, this full-range golf shop boasts a slew of golf merchandise, including golf shoes, clubs, hand and power golf carts. You can even take group and individual golf lessons to improve your swing as well.
