Halloween in La Jolla

Break out your most fabulous costume and get into the Halloween spirit as La Jolla rolls out a host of fun events during the last two weeks of October. Choose from spooky festivals, festive parties, and special events that only come around once a year. On October 26 from 1-4pm, La Jolla Recreation Center will be hosting a Halloween Carnival filled with classic rides, midway games, face-painting, and live music. This is the perfect way to enjoy the magic of fall. If you love jazz, catch a show with gothic influences at the Price Center at University of San Diego, when the duo Lucian Ban & Mat Maneri hit the stage to show off the sounds of Romania’s infamous Transylvania region.

The Family Harvest Festival at La Jolla Community Church on October 25th will feature pumpkin carving, bounce castles, and tasty carnival snacks like cotton candy and popcorn. Kids and adults of all ages will love the Haunted Aquarium: Shipwrecked! happening on October 25 and 26 from 6-9pm. Journey under the sea to see mysterious glowing creatures, explore a haunted shipwreck for treasure, and take part in games and story time that will keep the little ones riveted. Don’t forget to bring your costume so you can trick-or-treat as Billy Lee and Swamp Critters plays live music to set the mood. Keep your eye out for even more happenings like Halloween Mutts-querade (remember the Empress is pet-friendly!), where dogs parade around in their cutest (and sometime scariest) outfits, and the annual Boo Fest at Whole Foods, where everyone can enjoy tasty treats and shop for Halloween sweets.
