The La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival might not enjoy a chilly backdrop or snow flurries as an accessory, but this holiday tradition hosted in the heart of San Diego's most quaint beach town sure knows how to put on a show. Impressive is the lineup enough, until residents learn that the entire production - for all 56 years – has been run entirely by volunteers. Funded by community residents and sponsors, the La Jolla Christmas Parade shows off the spirit of the holidays once everyone gets involved. The holiday parade kicks off around 2pm down Girard and Prospect, ending at the La Jolla Recreation Center where stages are set up for additional performances, a kids zone, and more to be enjoyed by all. See the La Jolla High School Jazz Band at the Entertainment Stage, or let the kids run around in their zone featuring air jump, an air obstacle course and face painting – plus, pictures with Santa! Around 4:30pm, the La Jolla Christmas Tree will be lit and “Silent Night” will be performed. The heart of downtown La Jolla will be shutdown beginning around 10:30am, so be sure to check out the parade route online so you don't get stuck! Park early, or just stay at the Empress, just steps from the parade, and get a spot to see the colorful floats, marching bands, performers, equestrians and more during the annual La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Show.
