Founded in 1947 by Gregory Peck, Mel Ferrer, and Dorothy McGuire, La Jolla Playhouse is an award-winning venue and epicenter of the theatrical community. Productions from the theatre have moved to Broadway and won a total of 35 Tony Awards, an impressive number that no doubt will continue to grow. It's a great place to see a live performance, and this season's roster for the La Jolla Playhouse includes:
- The Trump Card (October 4-9): Mike Daisey takes on the reigning world heavyweight of self-mythologizing, the short-fingered vulgarian who captured a nation's heart through bullying, charm, one-syllable explosions, and occasionally telling the brutal truth: Donald J. Trump.
- Miss You Like Hell (October 25-December 4): Vibrant new musical that exudes the joy, love, and frustration of being a family in a changing country - and features compelling original songs that are every bit as diverse and eclectic as America.
- Freaky Friday (January 31-March 12): Based on the hit Disney films, this hilarious musical showcases what happens which a mother and daughter really see what it is to be a family and experience each other's lives first-hand.
